The Anglo Concertina Music of William Kimber Dan M. Worrall It is difficult to over-estimate the importance of William Kimber’s role in the preservation and development of the Morris dance tradition. His work with Cecil Sharp led to a renewed awareness of the riches of the folk tradition. Equally important were Kimber’s musical skills, and he developed a style of fully harmonic playing of Morris and country dance music on the Anglo concertina. This style of playing remains widespread among folk musicians. In this book Dan Worrall has provided the first collection of transcriptions of Kimber’s music that include both the melody and the sometimes surprising chords that Kimber used. The book includes a selection of 28 tunes, together with background notes on William Kimber and the instrument itself, with guidance for those learning the tunes and explanatory notes to accompany the transcriptions.
