Sam Sherry: Lancashire Stepdancer
VHS Video (PAL). £15.99. Sam Sherry (1912-2001) was one of the most influential figures in the revival of clog and step dancing that began in the 1970s. Born in Nottingham but settling in the North West of England, he was a former star of stage with his dancing brothers and became a widely respected teacher as well as an admired performer. This film shows three of his favoured routines - a jig, a waltz and a set of exhibition steps. Complete both in length and in close-up, Sam gives a brief introduction to each routine, which will be of great value to any student of the dance.
As former BBC producer and film maker Philip Donellan writes: "This is a film that no teacher of dance, ballet, tap or ethnic should fail to see and show to the young enthusiast.
